In the forests of the Veluwe, horses put their best foot forward. Hauling wood with horses has a number of advantages: places that are hard to access can be reached, and the horses' legs do not do too much damage to the vulnerable forest soil. In this way, natural rejuvenation can get off to a good start.
This process is more difficult if the soil has been stamped down.
So, wherever possible, horses are preferred to tractors.
